Get Active at York Biotech Campus
One of the many perks of being based at a science park is the access to facilities onsite. It can be a challenge finding time to exercise around your schedule, but at York Biotech Campus (YBC), we make it easy to stay active, whether you’re trying to get in shape, boost your mental wellbeing or looking for an entirely new challenge.
Here are some of the top ways to get active on campus…
Get out and about on foot
Nestled in an 80-acre parkland setting, our campus is perfect for those looking to grab some fresh air to break up their day. Our scenic lake, home to beautiful wildlife, is a wonderful spot for a mindful walk. For joggers looking to run a little further afield, there are also plenty of nature trails in the surrounding area.
Visit the Fitness Centre
We have a 24/7 Fitness Centre available exclusively for our campus community costing only £10 a month. The centre is kitted out with a full range of high-quality cardio machines, resistance machines and free weights. Floor length mirrors are strategically placed for members to check their form as they exercise, with the added bonus of audio equipment to play motivational music to help get your blood pumping.
Check out MMA classes
For those looking to put the ‘fight’ in fighting fit, our weekly Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) classes are the place to be. Hosted by Lead Engineer Chris Potter from our facilities management company Arcus FM, the MMA classes take place in the Fitness Centre every Thursday at 5pm* and are free to all gym members, no matter their experience. For those looking to hone their skills, Chris offers private lessons starting from £20 per hour.
