Abingdon Health announces exciting new partnership with Morrama!

 

It’s been a major period of growth for Abingdon Health as it has strengthened its capabilities over the past couple of years. First in its pivotal role in the COVID-19 pandemic which saw the rapid scale-up of Abingdon’s capabilities in developing and manufacturing lateral flow tests. Then, in the summer of 2022 Abingdon Health launched a new venture Abingdon Simply Test – an online one-stop shop for rapid home self-tests for the general public.

Building on its recent successes in lateral flow testing, Abingdon has announced a new partnership with Morrama, a leading UK based B-Corp product design consultancy. Abingdon and Morrama will be working together to develop plastic-free lateral flow housings.

Morrama has a strong track record in designing plastic free, sustainable products including Wild Deodorant’s refill cases. Abingdon Health and Morrama intend to make their first plastic-free compostable cassette available to customers in the next year, with both partners investing in a new company Eco-Flo Innovations Ltd dedicated to developing environmentally friendly design solutions for the lateral flow market.

The brand-new plastic free cassette will use renewable plant fibre moulding technology, which reduces CO2 emissions by 80% less than its single-use plastic equivalents. The designs are intended to be as accessible as possible, with the new eco-design acting as a direct swap from the traditional plastic cassettes. This makes it a seamless transition for companies looking to reduce plastic use across their test kits.
